Forums - Gaming Discussion - Put some pork in the Xbox 360, it is done.

April 11th 2006,

This whole time I have been saying "It's too early to tell if the Xbox 360 is screwed."  However, last night, I finally just came to the conclusion that there is no way this system will do well.  What I am saying is that it will sell roughly the same numbers as the original Xbox.  Here's why:

Thus far with no opposition in the 7th gen it only managed to sell a meek 2.9 millions in its first 4 months. The PS2 is still outselling it effortlessly and now with the much more powerful PS3 and Nintendo’s Revolution coming out later this year the 360’s sales can only go down. While Nintendo’s console won’t put much of a fight, Sony’s new platform will crush the Xbox 360 with it’s impressive list of 1st and 3rd party exclusives like God of War, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry and Metal Gear Solid and the 3rd party games that it does share with the PS3 will always looks better on Sony’s console.

Furthermore, Microsoft has very few series to counter Sony’s incredible lineup. Apart from Halo, Fable and Elder Scrolls the original Xbox didn’t have any massive sellers and all its other successful games sold much better on the PS2.

Also, price cuts won’t change it’s fate because I’m sure you’ve all heard about the numerous reports that have been surfacing about the Xbox 360 having a very high failure rate. The problem that has been nicknamed the Red Ring of Death will undoubtedly tarnish the console’s reputation for its whole lifecycle. Why would any gamer purchase a console that will always get the worst version of multiplats and that can crash on you at any moment?

So I’m calling it now, the Xbox 360 won’t do much better than the original Xbox and Microsoft will probably give up ton console business after this generation.

------------------------------------------------------

Now, given the current climate in the forums, I was tempted to explain what’s my point with all of this right away (because believe it or not, there is one) but I’m going to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and wait and see if people get it.

hehe funny how the past can come back and bite you in the ass =) who wrote this?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Wii U != Xbox 360

Pork?

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

You still sound very positive, I don't see any comment that half of the 2.9 million sales are replacement units for the RROD. etc..

But yeah it has no Tekken, Resident Evil and it is not powerfull enough for games like Final Fantasy XIII. The future is very dark for X360..

On a serious note, their is one small difference though, MS had excellent E3's with a lot of stuff coming up...Really a lot of..Think Bioshock, Mistwalker games, Gears of war , Mass Effect and back then only X360 that is something the Wii U still lacks...

So.. let me get this straight.. there is no food in this thread?

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Again, a perfect example that forums and the opinions given there have nothing in common with reality ;)

You should be able to find quite a few like that.

Many, many posters here predicted 20m to 30m lifetime for the 360 during 2006 and 2007.

Its very similar to the way people have reacted to the WiiU. Its all a bit premature and we wont know the full picture until well into 2014.

The Vita is a different story obviously.

...you can't be serious surely?

the vast majority of articles like these ( recently ) were biased towards ms up until the point that speculation on always on functionality reached a peak
