Forums - Nintendo - I'm confused by the Wii U

I don't fully understand the Wii U Nintendo ID thing. I got the Wii U Premium last week and want to set one up, but I always share consoles and end up playing them across a number of houses. So does anything sync across consoles? Can I use my ID with my housemates and then go home and use it with my family? What happens with store purchases? And how does the premium discount work?

I am also confused by the saves on the system. We all played Nintendoland together when we got it, but there is the same in-game progress when you login as someone else. Is there not individual progress for games? Can more than one person do the singleplayer ever?

This worries me slightly, as I have never been a "one console per person" kind of guy.

Did you read the manual?

CURRENTLY, its tied to the system. However, the base is there and they directly stated that eventually you will be able to use that NNID on other hardware and likely among different WiiU's.

Thanks, that's good news. I'm not too worried about it now, it's just something I'll probably need in the future. I'm still trying to get my head around the profile thing though. If the saves aren't connected to each profile, and the IDs are attached to the system, what changes when you switch profile (other than your Mii)?

Saves can be tied to the profile. That's based on the game, not the console/OS.

When you change profiles, all of your settings, app settings, home layout, game saves, etc all change to what that user has. Its definitely designed to be a true multi-user system.

That's great, that is exactly what I was hoping for. I have to say the OS is growing on me, I feel like it has a lot of potential.
