Is PC gaming dying? Not according to the developers of Total War: Rome 2, such as Creative Assembly’s Dom Starr. In fact, he says that the PS4′s recent announcement shows things are better than ever.

“I don’t think PC is in any danger of dying,” he said to Eurogamer.

“I think that’s ridiculous. If anything, the fact that the new console, PS4, seems to pretty much be an adapted PC just goes to show that the platform is strong and [we're] likely to not see the death of it any time soon.”

However, Starr is open to the idea that a Total War game may one day make a console appearance. “Personally I think it would be nice to have Total War on console,” he said, “get the experience to people who aren’t necessarily PC gamers.”

“You’d have to adapt a fair bit if for a joypad controller. Something like the Wii U might be easier to do some – drawing battle lines, moving the units around in a bit more of an organic way.”

...or let people plug in a USB mouse and keyboard. Suddenly the console is open to PC game ports.

No it's not unless mouse and keyboard come with the console. Well, at least in practice that's the way it goes.

PC definitely isn't dying and their points are valid, but I don't think they should bother with trying to get Total War on console, just keep up the great work on PC. I may be buying a 2nd GPU for Rome 2 to make it look amazing

Not true, Wii U doesn't come default with a Pro controller or Wii Remote yet some games require it. PS3/Xbox360 don't come default with Move/Kinect yet some games require it.

Uggh.

Isn't every console ever just some sort of PC.

gawd

Please, please, please~ Rome 2 on PS4. Throw in dual shock or move controllers, but just let people plug in M+KB and play the game like Dust 514.

Good to know that he watched the PS4 presentation to be able to make such an astute observations.

However, I too would like to see Total War on consoles. As long as we pretend like Stormrise didn't happen.

I have no idea about those Wii U controllers as I'm not at all interested in the console, but that Move/Kinect comparison doesn't work. Why? Because of some serious advertising. There's just no way mouse and keyboard could become at all popular on consoles without some heavy marketing, and I don't see it happening any time soon. In practice, it would be a financial suicide to require mouse and keyboard because no one uses them.

They don't have to require a mouse and keyboard. They can just make it an option like Dust 514.

Also, nobody uses a mouse and keyboard???
