"But again, it's important that I point out as a threat assessment and as a former FBI profiler, we don't see these as the cause of violence; we see them as sources of fueling ideation that's already there"

Pretty much what I've been saying for awhile. Violent people seek out violent media. Normal people don't turn violent because of videogames.

As for "helping parents understand" the rating system, what the hell is the industry supposed to do? Tattoo it on their arms? Is it really that complex? They're raising children and they can't understand what those fancy letters stand for? Holy cats.

It's more like a large percentage of parents don't care enough to bother, and there is nothing the industry can do about that. These kids aren't buying GTA and playing it in some null space dimension, they're getting these games directly from their parents and playing them on large objects called televisions, which are hooked up to expensive consoles. Seriously, the hell.

At some point society has to actually say, hey, if you don't want your kids playing violent videogame then stop buying them and, I don't know, maybe check to see what they're playing once in a blue moon.

Wow, looks like if she was my mom I would potentially be a sociopath.

Very scary looking pic. Didn't read the article, got scared after seeing the picture. Maybe the OP should have the picture at the end.

I feel like that says she DOES say they cause violence.  I mean she says it doesn't... but then wants a  stricter videogame rating.

I mean, she's basically saying "Violent videogames aren't going to cause someone who won't hurt someone to hurt someone.

However they will make someoen who is kind of violent, act on that violence sooner and more often.

Which to me still counts as "Causing Violence."

It's sad that this is even up for debate.

She's going a step further then that though.  Notice how she says fueling.

She's essentially saying violent videogames make violent people MORE violent.

It's not just that violent videogames are liked by violent people to her, but if your the kind of person who gets in fights or hits your little brother, a violent videogames is boosting your agression causing you to act sooner and more often.  Without videogames you'd still be violent but on a lesser level.

"When you have a video game that allows a player to shoot a police officer, walk up to that police officer and urinate on him, douse him with gasoline and set him on fire, and listen to him scream as he burns to death. What kind of sticker do you put on the box to warn a parent about that?"

The game's Postal 2, and it was banned in many coutries.

This FBI agent said the same too:
