Didn't Wii Sports receive similar scores back in '06? Personally, I expected Nintendoland in the 80-89 range (which is actually a very good rating in my book), though I do hope that Mario warrants a 90 or higher average.

80 upwards are great scores. 50/60 are mediocre.

Yeah me too, I really hope ZombiU gets a 90+ in meta....but I think 80-85 is more realistic (if the game delivers).

I guess I won't be getting a Wii U. I only play quadruple A rated games. Stop wasting my time, Nintendo.

I mean, maybe I can play NSMBU, it is only five quantifiable fun points off from 90. Maybe if I huff some paint before I play, I won't notice that I am missing my fun quota.

Let's calm down and look at all this for what it actually is.

A game like Nintendoland recieving 80 out of 100 is not too bad considering the content of the game and who it is meant to attract market wise. Remember, the game is not meant to go up against epic themed major AAA titles. It is meant to attract virtually the same audience as Wii Sport and Wii Play. Those games seldom scored above 80, and yet they alone managed to sell million of copies. Nintendoland receiving 80 is therefore not a disastrous score. On the contrary, it's quite a good score considering the games content.

When it comes to NSMBU, it's a slightly disappointing score, but far from a disaster. Without having read the reasoning behind such a "low" score, it's hard to comment on it. But I do suspect that the game is not considered innovative enough to gain the highest scores. That however does not say much about the overall quality of the game.

Bottom point; i80 and 85 are enough to please most consumers while waiting for more quality software.

These scores are a lot better than I expected, especially after reading the title.

80 is a good score! some of my favourite games of all time averaged an 8 on the metacritic Suikoden 2 is one that springs to mind and id rate that the tied for 1st place on my list of all time favourites.

Nintendoland got an 8? And the Almighty Mario got an 8.5? NINTENDO IS DOOMED.
