I have pre-ordered Dishonored on Steam, and still couldn´t play it. I usually pre-order games at Gamespot for the same price and get the games four, five days sooner. My  friend has pre-ordered it at Media Markt and got it already >.<

It is released tomorrow in Europe

yeah in germany it is very very easy to get games some days before official release, seems like it is the same in austria.

sure but in germany and it seems like in autria as well, you get games some days before release from many retailers so why preorder it on steam if you get it for the same price and earlier at retail?

I thought you would bring up an actual issue with their pre-ordering system :S

It's the same in the UK too, you usually get a game atleast a day early when you pre-order from one of the major websites, but he pre-ordered it on steam (a market place which is very controllable) so he can't really complain that he gets the game the instant it is officially released. I wonder though are you able to pre-load it? I am sure I saw it labeled as "pre-load" the other day on steam but it was quickly changed back to "pre-order".

It is pre-ordering like this makes no sense. I could have easily bought it on release date.

Dont...you have a preloading option to install the game and wait till the release day to play it?

That is what happened to me with Torchlight 2 when I had it on pre-order ;o

I pre-loaded (installed but cant play before the release date) 2 days before the release date and after the release date was able to play the game ;o.

(Maybe it'll work?)

Or maybe you will have to wait the next day..?

that's not his problem, his problem is that he can only play the game at launch day which is tomorrow but if he wouldn't have bough it over steam, he could play the same game already because some retailers always sell the  games some days before launch in some countries (they sell the games at the moment they get them)

so, he has to pay the same on steam for a digital download to get the game later as the retail version.

sure only few days but if you really love a game it is horrible if your friends speak about it and already play it and you still have to wait^^

Well idk about all these other countries but here in the United States when you pre-order a game you do not get it early unless some mistake was made which is rare. So preordering from steam is really good as you can install it before the game comes out instead of downloading it the day it comes out.

I pre-ordered X-com and received a lot of bonus - including Civilization 5!
