Forums - Microsoft - Will Microsoft ever touch their legacy IPs again? Do they even care!?

Hey gamers!

So I've been doing some digging, and it shocked me to see how many good IPs Microsoft owns! These are games that many of us loved in our childhood, or some others when they were older because they have no life (nerds)

Anyway, do you think that Microsoft would revive these IPs next generation for the hawdcaw gamers choosing their new consoles? They have so many but are any of them relevant to Microsoft's strategy today? Are they not grimdark shootbang enough?

Do you even want a new Battletoads in the first place? Or are you all too mature (NERDS!) for that now?

Isn't Age of Empires some "free" to play bullshit now?

freelancer? is that a game even?

never heard of it

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Yeah there is Age of Empires Online. Its meant to be good.

I expect a few of their franchises will be brought out again to bolster the early neXbox lineup.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I don't think some of those games should be used. For instance, Crackdown just had an installment last year. There could be a sequel in the works.

And as with any of the Big Three, they have a lot more IPs than they have developers, so of course many can't be used. I guess they may revive one or two, but I think the majority of MS devs will focus on the bigger IPs.

I'd be interested in a new Brute Force though!

Actually, a few of those games were gonna be created by Rare, but Rare is all Kinect now.
And another thing, the majority of those franchises won't sell as well as Halo, Gears, and Forza.

oh you're right, thanks for your valuable input to the chart

I'm guessing you're using the wikipedia list for this. It seems odd that Lionhead got to keep the IP for "Black & White" under EA, but didn't get to keep the IP for "The Movies" under Activision. Hmm...

In any case, yes. Black & White is something I'd like to see another one of. They got so close to being fantastic with B&W2, but man, they needed to balance the positive gameplay better. It was too fucking hard to get anything done!

I would like to see Age of Empires again. I really liked those games.  My friends and I would go around saying, "Fretodos" some of the other Greek(other languages as well) words people would say when you give them a task.  We would jokingly use them in real life.  "Hey, would you get me a glass of water?" "Fretodos!"  (laugher)

What about Black and White? I never played, but it sounds interesting. Especially with what you could do with next gen hardware. But could you make that game without Peter Molyneux?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!
