Forums - Gaming - Top 25 games made in Europe (WW sales figures)

With all these top 20 threads flying around, I thought they seemed interesting so I tried to make one on my own based it on Europe since that's where I am.  Initially I was going to do Top 20 sales in Europe, but it's easy enough just to pull up that information yourself - and it was too much work adding together all the multi-plats and what not.  For anyone interested - it was all Wii games, Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo & Call of Duty games, pretty much.

So instead, inspired fully by Troll_Whisperer's thread (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=147129), here's a list of the top 25 games made in Europe, any generation (25 was easier since the list kept getting pushed back):

Ranking Game Sales Platform
1 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 23.57m PS2, Xbox, PC
2 Grand Theft Auto IV 19.70m PS3, 360, PC

21 Battlefield: Bad Company 2 6.6m PS3, 360, PC
22 LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 6.5m Wii, 360, PS3, DS, PSP
24 Batman: Arkham Asylum 6.42m PS3, 360
25 Donkey Kong Country 2 6.38m SNES, GBA

Stuff that just missed out: Driver (PS1) sold around 6.27m, GTA: Vice City Stories (PS2/PSP) managed about 5.69m copies and Tomb Raider (PS1/PC) 5.63m.  LittleBigPlanet (PS3) sold around 5 million copies and Fable 3 (PC & 360) is also around that mark.

I've you spot any mistakes, anything I've left off, anything wrong with it: feel free to let me know.

Any thoughts on this, then?

Pretty average list really. One thing I did notice while doing this is that apart from the Battlefield & Just Dance games, everything on the list was made in the UK. Pick up the slack, rest of Europe!

The LEGO games seem to release for every system under the sun and sell bucket loads (although they are slowing down now) and GTA is a Call of Duty-esque juggernaut, but the only one there really is coming out of Europe.

Nice to see representation from Donkey Kong Country (Rare) and Tomb Raider 2 (Core Design) as well.

I'm surprised none of the sports games (mostly soccer) made it to the list lol

They're all made in Canada!

Gasp not a single Call of Duty! Shockers ;o

I think you mis-understand my list.  Read title again :(

DKC is on this list! I didn't knew Rare HQ were in the UK, you learn something everyday!

Nintendo and PC gamer

Do we have any data on Football Manager? That's made in the UK and is probably as popular as Fifa. Although it's a PC game so it might be difficult to track.

And how about Angry Birds? Rovio are Finnish I believe.

And supposedly Battlefield 2 sold 11 million units too:

Whilst we're on Swedish developers (DICE), it's also worth noting Minecraft sold 7.2 million (Mojang).

Their games' awesome sense of humor is as British as it gets! xD

OT: Nice list. Glad to see Battlefield, aka. the gaming pride of my country, is pulling some impressive numbers.
