Project Sora shuts down
Kid Icarus developer closes shop.

As of June 30, Tokyo-based developer Project Sora has shut down. A message on the studio’s website confirms the studio’s closure. The site will close on July 31.

Nintendo and former HAL Laboratory employee Masahiro Sakurai formed Project Sora in 2009 after the launch of Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii. It released one game during its lifetime, Kid Icarus: Uprising for 3DS.

Did anyone expect otherwise? Project Sora was created for the sole purpose of creating Kid Icarus Uprising. It was a joint venture between Sora Ltd. and Nintendo. Project Sora does not equal Sora Ltd. so no one should be worried by this news.
