A lot of people believe that 3rd parties ignored the Wii because 3rd parties didn't think their games would sell well on the Wii. And since, no 3rd party has the balls to take the risk, 3rd parties never tried. My question is: why hasn't Nintendo made any 3rd party-like 'core' games for the Wii? And by 'core' games, I don't mean games like Super Mario Galaxy or Zelda. I mean games similar to the ones that 3rd parties would make. I mean a game with realistic figures, violence, & some guns. Maybe a little blood too. Just to prove a point to 3rd parties.. Why hasn't Nintendo made a game similar to Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, etc?
I'm not saying they should have made an entire series of these games, but just make a few to prove a point. And surely, these games would have sold well. After which, 3rd parties would have surely jumped on board. And who knows? Maybe Nintendo could have made the Grand Theft Auto better than the actual Grand Theft Auto. They could have devoted one team to making their 3rd-party type games, so I doubt it would require a lot of resources..
But the point is 3rd parties clearly weren't going to make the first move. So why didn't Nintendo make that Grand Theft Auto type games? Or that Call of Duty? Would this not have proved to 3rd parties that 'core' games sell on Nintendo consoles.
