I'm 99.99999% sure that the naughty dog engine isn't a modified version of UE3. It's a custom built engine for the PS3.

It's 100% confirmed... ND uses Naughty Dog Engine (v3.0 in U3) + Havok (for physics).
We're at a point where screenshots mean nothing and can't do justice to visuals, wait for everything to be in movement.

I think Unreal Engine 3 is one of the best engine in the market today but I want Epic to remove the plastic appearance of the characters rendered by it.
This is what I'm hoping next gen looks like:
Those UE4 screens don't even impress me much more than the best looking PS3 game as seen in the following in-game/real-time shots (maybe it's just the art style?):
And that's their first attempt on the PS3 vs. 4 from ND and 2 from GG. God of War: Ascension is said to be the same step up from 3 as 2 was over 1 graphically, so expect a huge improvement over what already looks amazing when the game releases in spring next year. Next gen is going to have to look near-CGI to really impress gamers, and I doubt it will, those UE4 shots certainly don't but the Samaritan tech demo does.

I think the RED engine is going to be better than both, and I never really liked the ND's engine that much I think it's a little overhyped but God of war 3 engine is amazing

*looks at screens you posted of GoW3* *Looks at screens of Ue4*
*sigh* *Shakes head*
The difference is so big I don't even know where to begin.
Ue4 looks good certainly, but I don't think it looks miles better like some have been claiming.
