Capcom mentioned in their earnings report last night that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was “performing steadily” while Street Fighter X Tekken was underperforming. Just how much did the two games actually sell? As of March 31st, Operation Raccoon City had sold 1.7 million copies, according to Capcom sales data. That doesn’t include sales in Japan, where the game was released in late April. Counting Japanese sales, the game is somewhere in the range of 2 million sold worldwide.

Last year, Capcom announced their sales expectations for a number of games, Operation Raccoon City included. The game was expected to sell 2 million worldwide by March 31st. While it technically didn’t hit 2 million by that date, it also wasn’t release “worldwide,” since Japan got the game a month later. Capcom’s wording in their estimates leaves a little bit of room for debate. Operation Raccoon City was much closer to Capcom’s estimates than Street Fighter X Tekken, however.

Street Fighter X Tekken was expected to sell 2 million copies worldwide by March 31st, but only sold 1.4 million, meaning the game underperformed by about 600,000 copies.

On the bright side, Monster Hunter Tri G beat expectations. Capcom’s forecast for Tri G was 1.2 million by the end of the fiscal year, and the game ended up at 1.6 million instead.

Yea take that Capcom, I'm glad gamers are finally answering them for all the crap that they pulled off with SXT, UMVC3 and Street Fighter. And what better way to answer corporate greed but with you wallets. I guess people have gotten smart enough to realise that Capcom will just release a "complete" version of the game within a year's time.

Yeah that is their way to release 'complete' versions later isnt it?, I just hope the Vita gets one of the final Versions of monster hunter 3 (like freedom unite was one of the final versions of MHF2, its huge) rather than one of the opening versions of MH4.

Of course a final version of 3 and any later versions of 4 is fine as well.

The real story here is MH3G... the thing did fantastic, and is still selling well!

MH4 will be gigantic! Bigger than Mario - at least for some years!

Raccoon City sold over a million? God what is wrong with people.

And it seems like there are a lot of copies sitting on shelves.

I mean we have it at 560k sold and they shipped 1.4 million. I've already seen the game at 30$. It should soon hit the bargain bin.

Raccoon City selling ~2 million is justice?

Well lets see... this gen Capcom put a SF2 port, SSF2 HD, SF3 port, three versions of SF4, MvC2 port, two versions of MvC3, TvC (for the Wii kids), and now TvS.

I love me some Capcom fighters, but I can't keep up with all this! I'll buy it when its $20 - $30.

Falls short because as others said people will waiting for a super version, even if they don't plan on making one. Their past business practices are catching up to them.

It's just that simple.
