...or at least I do at Prince of Persia.

I downloaded it off the 3DS eShop, and I can't even get past the first level O.o

Am I a casual noob or did anyone else find this game tough?

On that note- feel free to talk about how games appear to have become generally easier over the years (presumably in order to appeal to a wider audience, which isn't a bad thing in my opinion). Then again, controls have definitely got better (one of the main issues I'm having with PoP imo)

Prince of Persia has atrocious controls. Not just by today's standards, but also back then. It simply doesn't control fluidly as everything seems to be delayed and has to be done slowly in order to not die by accident.

It's a bad game, period.

I've never had such issues controlling a game before- I assumed it was just a 1980s thing

But if it's a "bad game", then how did it become one of the classics that everyone knows?

PoP is one of those games that it's to suck at. Don't remember much of it but isn't it a lot of trial and error?

Prince of Persia is a classic, used to love it... it's hard as hell, so don't feel ashamed... but first level?

Isn't that just pick up the sword and kill one dude and that's it?

*huging*

I suck at every First person shooter I´ve ever played, I know how you feal.

The original Prince of Persia is a pain in the ass I remember unlocking it and its sequel on Price of Persia the Sands of Time on the X-Box couldn't get far on either game the controls are very hard.

I felt this same way when I tried playing Adventure of Link after years of not playing it. I was absolutely terrible at the game at first. Over the days I ended up honing my skills and becoming a badass though, and that made me feel so epic.

And then I walked into the last temple... fuck that shit. I'm never going to be able to beat the game again.

Not because you wrote "period", it became the truth. I think you said the same about Rayman Origins, probably due to your inability to complete tough games.

I believe it's a very good game. Maybe a little repetitive, but it represented a great leap forward in the quality of animation. It has a very original method of combat, smart puzzles and even the trial and error traps are fun. But yeah, it's very difficult...

No, there's some platforming involved to get the sword, then it's back to (almost) the start to kill the bad guy. The swordfighting is so bad though that it's more a matter of luck than skill.

Compare Zelda 2 to PoP. It's not even up for debate which game has better controls, because PoP is so terribly bad.

We had better resistance to bad controls before! I didn't cared much back then! Even today, if you struggle with a gameplay-flawed game a little bit it becomes second nature fast - but I don't have the unlimited time or patience I had before to do that.

But I really dislike Zelda II (one of the few Nintendo games I don't like. Really, you can count them with one hand), so to me PoP is better, even if flawed a lot and havint worse controls! The SNES version was "platinuned", really one of my greatest gaming achievements. But what do you think of Blackthorne and Abe's Oddysey/Exodus? I love those PoP inspired games even more than PoP itself. Flashback was okay too, but not as much.
