Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is a character from Fairy Tail based off of Fire Emblem?

Tagged games:

Erza Scarlet, a character from a manga which began August 23rd, 2006, who is nicknamed...

...Titania (Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance released April 20th, 2005 in Japan)

(the hole in the logic is that Titania was known as Tiamat in the Japanese version, but still...)

Doesn't seem likely. Red-haired bad-ass knight girl? Pretty standard. Titania? Very exotic, western-sounding name. Going to chalk this up to coincidence.

Titania being "queen of the fairies" via myth and A Midsummer Night's Dream also pulls matters into the realm of coincidence (fitting name for a female in a leadership position at a place called Fairy Tail), though it's a wild observation (and not my own. I was trolling tvtropes when i found that someone had mentioned it, and promptly slammed my head into my desk for not figuring it out sooner, having watched Fairy Tail daily the past two semesters and played Fire Emblem 9 & 10 at least 8 times between them)

This also reminds me that i need to download Sacred Stones for free...

As a Fire Emblem fan Erza >>>>> Titania, but I doubt that one is based on the other.

Also I like better the way that Erza looks in the manga

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Not sure if based but her name isn't...She was named after Mashima's short story character "Eru". Incidentally, the short story's name is "Fairy Tale"

Former something....

I don't know, but Samus Aran sure looks a lot like Winry.

Elza Scarlet (that's how they spelled her name in my country) is badass!

Anyway, I think this is only a coincidence... it's not the first time a red hair woman is portrayed as a warrior.
The armor-equiping thing and background is probably what differs them the most!

That thought didn't enter my head until after posting this thread. "I've done something like this before..."

Ugh, don't get me started on Fairy Tail localization-name-changes. The one that pisses me off the most has to be Gerard. It's Jellal, damnit, there's really no way around that.

Well, we got Jellal here! So it's all good!

And I kinda prefer Elza than Erza *runs*

Erza is too young(or young looking) to be Titania.

There.

Pixel Art can be fun.
