Top 10 best-selling games for February 2011:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops -- 360, PS3, WII, NDS, PC -- 1 -- Activision Blizzard
  • Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds -- 360, PS3 -- 2 -- Capcom
  • Just Dance 2 -- WII -- 3 -- Ubisoft
  • NBA 2K11 -- 360, PS3, PSP, WII, PS2, PC -- 4 -- Take 2 Interactive
  • Dead Space 2 -- 360, PS3, PC -- 5 -- Electronic Arts
  • Zumba Fitness: Join the Party -- WII, 360, PS3 -- 6 -- Majesco
  • Bulletstorm -- 360, PS3, PC -- 7 -- Electronic Arts
  • Killzone 3 -- PS3 -- 8 -- Sony
  • Michael Jackson The Experience -- WII, DS, PSP -- 9 -- Ubisoft
  • Mario Sports Mix -- WII -- 10 -- Nintendo

Numbers for the titles will be nice, but seems that based on the order, we had killzone 3 too high. Lack of Mario Sports Mix, and Lack of Michael Jackson. Even with all that everything should be good, as long as you are not NBA 2k11.

we did? how so?

Ok shouldn't use we like that but Vgchartz had killzone 3 in the top 5 (using the new NPD method) it is 8th.

Does not mean the numbers are wrong for killzone 3, it most likely means A) Killzone 3 sold more bundles and that wasn't recorded well. B) Other games just did better or C) It actually does mean that "we" have Killzone 3 higher.

Add: It could mean D) NPD is wrong, but rarely do I think they are wrong! :P

My gut says there is a decent chance either Wii or PS3 beat X360 this month, but we'll have to see.

Does NPD track games that are bundled?

I think someone told me before that HW counts, but the bundled software is left out.

Since they are reporting revenue that makes sense.

The bundled with hardware doesn't count... just CE, GOTY, software bundles counts (read the **).

* Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded (DS)

NPD: Call of Duty Tops Again as Industry Rebounds 3% in February

The U.S. games industry was down 5% in January, but the pace has picked up again as February saw total sales climb 3% to $1.36 billion. Software actually dipped 5% to $601.4 million but hardware jumped 10% to $466.9 million. The category with the biggest growth was accessories (22% bump to $256.9 million), likely due to Kinect, which recently hit 10 million sold.

Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops has once again taken the top spot on NPD's monthly chart, but Capcom's Marvel vs. Capcom 3 had a very healthy debut, securing second place. Bulletstorm, from Epic's People Can Fly (published by EA) also did well for itself considering that it's a brand-new IP. Epic President Mike Capps recently told IndustryGamers that the title will top 1 million and may have benefited a bit from the Fox News controversy.

Ubisoft, similar to the previous month, also fared well thanks to the dance category remaining hot. Just Dance 2 and Michael Jackson The Experience, placed third and ninth, respectively. It's worth noting that EA's popular Dead Space 2 slipped from third last month to fifth, but it's still doing well. Sony's Killzone 3 placed eighth on the chart, but it released late in February and only had a few days of sales.

Here's the top 10 for February from NPD:
