You fail to understand that Sony doesn't care about 'sales wars' that we think of. Sure, they aim for good sales and market share - but PS3 is likely to sell more than the 360 at the end of the day (once new Xbox  is out) and that is what they are more interested in.

Sony have failed on profit this gen, that's the main failure. Whether it was deliberate for Blu-Ray penetration, and whether it may work out slightly in the long run, we'll have to wait and see (it's doubtful).

If Sony can release a system better than the Xbox a year later, with better features and profit can be made on it - then that's what counts.

That is exactly where they failed this gen. Why should it be different next gen?

Sony lost soooo much money with the PS3, they can't afford to drop it soon. So they just have to stick with it.

The first bolded part is just an asumption from an inernet noname. Want to hear another one? I think the 360 will sell more. there you have it.

So did M$ with the first Xbox....didn't stop them from scraping the Xbox while ps2 is still selling as we speak.

Yeah i really doubt this will be your last gen of gaming. And talking sales is a good thing even if the 360 had a 1 year lead launch to have generated this many fans in a small space of time is crazy. Don't expect anyone to get killed off soon.


Theres talking sales and then theres being ignorant about it. Well our consols better because it sold 5 million more. Theres no proper discussions about sales. All we get is Xbox 360 is the better consol because it sold more. The internet was full of comments like that before September the 1st 2009 and the past few weeks those comments resurfaced. Funny how they wern't around when the ps3 was selling more.Theres a balance for both people choose to ignore it.

Also I've always said this gen would be my last gen. I've been saying it for years now and I highly doubt my opinion will change in the future either.

It's like movies, after the big 3 it looks not as cool. I don't think it'll be called that.


Heard of this little Apple device called the iPhone 4?  Electronics arn't like movies at all, they build on the name, the brand of "Playstation", if sony feels that name is still strong then they will keep the name, if they feel it's name has been damaged too much by the ps3 or they wish to take a different approch with there next console they will change it.


I don't think there was an Iphone 2, or even an Iphone 3, just 3G, meaning the tech behind it.

Anyway... to me it's not as cool, even for Iphone. Iphone 4 is not as good as just... Iphone.

Wii released later than XB360, but it filled the gap in less than one year. Having the right product matters more than releasing early, obviously within reasonable limits, but it looks like just one year head start doesn't ensure victory. Keeping costs under control will be of the essence for Sony, though.
