*FF3 & FF4 = Japanese numberline ones. 

FF3 I've never beaten, though my wife has... I think.

FF4 is a solid 10. Not really a damn thing about it that I would fix. Arguably the best character in the series with Kain, a thematically tight and consistent narrative, distinct characters, some of the best music in the series. This game was the whole package.

FFIV - 8.5/10
Played the DS remake. Great game.

I'm planning to play the DS remake of FFIII soon.

FF4 -- 9.6/10

Tied with FFX for 3rd place in my top FF games ever list. (though if I got really picky it would be slightly below FFx in 4th).

I rented the DS version & got bored around I think 8 - 10 hours in. Didn't like anything much at all. A problem is I played FF4 before it so it seemed a step down in every way.

But as I haven't finished I wouldn't rate it....but it would definetely be below an 8.

I only played the remake of FFIII on the DS and wasn't a fan but also didn't get real far in it.

FFIV on the other hand, I've played just about every version of it. Back when it was new, it was pretty awesome but it just doesn't hold up today. The story parts that made it great then because other games didn't touch that stuff was cool but not a big deal in games anymore. The gameplay isn't super broken but really isn't anything special. The sprites actually moving around in scripted sequences was ground breaking then but meh today.

Still though, even though it doesn't quite hold up it's still a good game. 7.5/10

FFIII = 9/10 much better than FF1 and introduced a lot of recurring characters in the series.

FFIV = 10/10 Enough said.

Also, Can you put FF6 in its own thread please? I think it deserves it.

FFIV is my favorite game of all time, so 10/10, due to what khuutra said.

I am SOOOOO pissed at FFIII right now. Save points are a MUST, the last 3 - 4 hours of the game are one boss battle after another with no chance to save, so if the end boss kills you (like he just did to me) you get to redo those hours. BAD game design is bad! Aside from that it's pretty fun and the job system is cool, but can be confounding at times. 8/10.

Final Fantasy IV gets a 10/10 easy. Excellent rpg. The best FF game IMO.

FFIV and FFVI should have it's own thread. I don't know why he's clumping all the non-PS games together?
