Nintendo is back where it belongs!

in Gaming Discussion on 01 July 2008

I never understood why people think that Nintendo should be entitled to first place in the console wars. No company deserves to have success handed to them, especially one that once used anti-competitive practices and resisted the implementation of online and disc based gaming. I'm not saying that they don't deserve to be in the business but people seem to forget that Nintendo is just another...

Rubang's Reviews #1: If you don't like Brawl you're not a real gamer!

in Nintendo Discussion on 01 July 2008

"If you don't like Brawl you're not a real gamer!"That's a pretty ignorant comment. I have no time for shallow, derivative fighting games, does this mean that I am not a real gamer? If you took away the nostalgia of playing with familiar characters then SSB would quickly come crashing down to Earth. No offense, I'm not just stirring the pot but SSB doesn't stack up well to fighting games that...

Why do sales matter to gamers?

in Gaming Discussion on 01 July 2008

Adventure games like Grim Fandango stopped selling so developers stopped making them. Same thing happened to scrolling shooters, side scrollers, dungeon crawlers and a whole host of other genres. Also, some of my favorite game developers fold or drasticly scale back after commercial failures like Okami and Psychonauts. This is why I care about game sales, I don't want to be left with nothing more...

What do you think of the GameCube's controller?

in Nintendo Discussion on 29 June 2008

I didn't like it. I found the directional pad to be a bit unresponsive, the analog sticks had that octagon border which prevented fluid movement, there were 3 shoulder buttons which was weird and the joysticks were asymmetrical. Overall I thought it was a very poor controller....

    who is the DS for?

in Gaming Discussion on 29 June 2008

The DS is for people who A) want applications like Nintendogs and Brain Age or B) want more of the same game franchises. More Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Pokemon, Advance Wars, Castlevania, etc... Sure, there's the odd title like Elite Beat Agents or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney but I still don't understand how people recommend the DS over the PSP....
