I'll admit they looked dorky in that video, but they at least looked geniune in the fun they were having. There was a guy in the Microsoft presentation (I think for 10 minutes), who kept saying how excited and thrilled he was to announce everything. Saying he was thrilled and excited. In the same flat tone. That got applause, but people who were genuinly excited for the games they were showing off are a big disappointment. TV Tropes.org calls this "Stop Having Fun Guys".
This isn't about any of the games themselves, or whether the announcements are any good. It was just that people were trying to do more than act like salesmen to the crowd, and it seems people wanted salesmen. They wanted to just have a spectacle to be amazed by, instead of people actually showing off what their work can do.
Then again, it may be that it was that it wasn't a core game showing this off, but it still had more subtance than half the trailers at that show. Not that any of those games won't be any good (the God of War series has a strong track record), just that we saw more of Wii Sports Resort than just a video, and that was somehow wrong to everyone.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
