I would assume that the CAD prices were going to drop $100, and maxconsole decided to extrapolate the Canadian information.

About dropping the price before Falcon:

When Falcon launches, I assume there will still be 1.0m to 1.5m consoles that are the old non-Falcon consoles. MS needs to sell these 1.0-1.5m consoles before Falcon becomes embedded in every store, because when Sept-Dec hits, they're going to move the vast majority of consoles. Which would MS prefer, selling a ton of these old non-Falcon consoles that not only cost more, but are more prone to break, or the new, cheaper, better, more reliable Falcon's that make MS more cash 2 ways both with more reliablity (less returns) and cheaper hardware itself.

IMO, that'd make the most sence to MS, to drop the price, liquidate the non-Falcon's, then when Halo and GTAIV hit, have the Falcons at retailers, selling out, and turning a profit for MS, and stopping the hemorraging of console failures, since Falcons *should* fix most of the issues.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
