That was disappointing, but I expected it.
The Reggienator could have easily taken her apart but chose mercy over victory. I understand if the Reggienator prefers not the tears of casuals on his shoes, but the blood of his enemies. Even as the Reggienator concedes these small meaningless battles to the casual masses he plots his swift and brutal wrath upon his enemies all the while luring them into a false sense of security. The Reggienator is patient. He knows when to strike. When you least expect it... BAM!!! He will smite his enemies with a thousand koopa shells, banish them to the fiery pits of World 8, and steal the big key so that they may never return.
