IMO, there is no excuse for shortages. When I go to buy a Wii November 12 there better be some in stock. If not, I will consider an insult and total disrespect to gamers. No exeptions.

This just proves how much Nintendo hates the gamers, Not only are they selling the system for more than its worth but they are limiting the supplies for no one can get the system, They have had about 8months to boost production, and have done nothing. By the time the wii is in stores no one is going to buy it, the PS3 and 360 will be cheaper, Nintendo won't even break 50mil units sold at this rate, Good way to lose fans Nintendo and boost the sales of PS3 and 360 during the holidays :D

Nintendo is making the systems about as quickly as they can.  I'm sure they would love to be able to provide as much as is wanted, but there is in fact a limit on how many you can make in a given time.

Twestern is pretty accurate here. Nintendo simply can't aford to up the production of the Wii by any great amount. Remember that Nintendo have no multi-billion$ corp to fall back on if they f*ck up, unlike SCE and MSHE. They need to be carefull with their money. Imagine this, they could probably sell 3 million Wii's a month at this moment in time, but what if this demand slows to 1 million a month. The now have 2 million excess units per month, they can't leave the factories empty and it would cost money to close them down/terminate contracts. You may say that it is unlikely that the Wii popularity will decline soon but there are plenty of analysts in the games industry who think it will. While they may be wrong it would be foolish of Nintendo to completely disregard their opinions.

Nintendo have a very fine line to play with hear. They need to make sure that they can deal with current demand while not completely overestimating future demand. So far I think they have played it very well, although I think they could probably afford an upscale in production up to 1.5 a month without any great concern.
