Because the dev's abandoned the friggin awesome stuff like screw attack, moon jump, and super fast ultra friggin awesome boots just to spite me ;/ The Japanese didn't take too highly to it and demand justice because they feel sorry for me. :)
No offense to you SC, but I just don't think the series is what it used to be, and I mean that in a negative way, the new direction was a terrible one in my opinion and it doesn't even feel like the same universe for the series anymore. Completely different games with the new ones being way to focused on the shooting mechanics.
