So since Sony is not looking at themselves as a competitor, this must mean that they are number one. Right? Also notice that his selling point is that the PS3 is a Blue Ray player. That wouldn't make IT a niche device. Now would it?

No because its only your anti-Sony opinion that Blu-Ray is a niche format.  Its getting bigger and bigger all the time, and it will replace DVD period.  Wow sorry, but I had to put in my two cents that Nintendo fanboys can find something to cry about even when their "niche game device" is selling like hot cakes.  Look, is the DS in competition with one of those still screen Tiger handheld games?  I think not.  Same story here.

For right now it is still niche, and we don't even know if it will replace DVD. Also by the time it would there are already other formats in the plans. Examples are HVDs. Imo blu-ray won't ever be thought of as a new format rather than an uprgraded DVD. The features are nice, but there are just far less than other upgrades in formats. Also it is way to soon for a full upgrade in optical storage format. Wasn't VHS dominant for over 10 years? Dvd has only been dominant for 5, so I will think of Blu-ray as a better DVD rather than a format of its own.   Also using your logic then gaming isn't niche either since it is getting bigger and bigger at a slower rate though.

@Your other post I have both a PS3 and a Wii, and like both consoles. You could say I'm a wii fanboy.
