| ssj12 said: Now comparing any game to Gears or Unreal Tournament 3 will be a total joke. Epic Games is a developer that is at Polyfony Digital and Square Enix's level of graphical power house. Gears, and UT3 are prequals to the 360's 4th generation of games honestly. Halo 3 will not look better then Gears or Unreal Tournament 3 due to this fact. Bungie will never be as good of a developer as Epic is. |
You betcha.

Those shots of H3 are just as impressive as anything Gears has to offer. In fact, I'd say they look better because of the colorful nature of H3 and Bungie's willingness to tackle a jungle environment, a very difficult thing to render well. It takes a lot less effort to render concrete and rubble than it does vegetation while making it all look realistic.
People have to stop judging Halo by its multiplayer beta one of these days and remember that Bungie made some of the best-looking Xbox games ever produced. They're a big developer with a long track record of good-looking games, just like Epic. Maybe not as diverse as Epic, but just as talented.
You can get into a big argument about whether Halo looks worse than UT3 but at that point, we're getting down to personal preferences. I am personally sick and tired of the grey, brown, and black in Epic games because it leads me to believe that they're sacrificing environments for the sake of bloom and rim lighting. I respect Bungie for taking an art direction that isn't popular right now and doing a damned good job with it.
