Well, apparently Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) became a platinum... as shitty as it was/is (I bought it for $10 and it's the worst Sonic game yet...):
Platinum Hits is a term used to refer to a line of select Xbox games that have sold over 400,000 units on the platform in the nine months after release
So, I guess there is a reason to release it on HD.
