You never lie to stockholders because they can have you removed in a heartbeat for doing such things.
Sony has to figure out how to sell more games first before they try to get a handle on production costs and lower the PS3's price to cause even more losses per console sold. Nintendo is pounding them in the states and in Japan. A 360 price cut isn't necessarily their primary concern.
