They didn't want to deal with the PS3, period, just like MANY developers who develop on PC and 360, leaving out the PS3. It was EA's decision to bring the Orange Box to the PS3, they ported it, not Valve.
Play Valve's games on the PC and then tell me Valve is untalented...I'll probably just ban you.
