He meant that if it doesn't work in 2012, you get a free replacement, because it has a 3 year warranty. How could you not put that together?
That said, I think he meant if you buy a 360 now for $299, you are set until July 2011 when the warranty runs out, and even then, Microsoft's repair service is relatively cheap.
