That brings up where I think, as evidenced WiiGirl76, Sony failed terribly, why should anyone who isn't only deciding whether to get a 360 or a PS3 buy their system? This was a trade event, Sony needed to show industry types that they have some idea about how to get back into the 100+ million casual market they used to dominate. Instead they gave little indication that they have any clue that market exists.

I actually think that's a pretty sound strategy, for now. I mean, who else are you going to sell a $500 console?

MS is starting to get to a point where they can sell (a version of) their machine to more casual gamers. If they drop the Core price by $50+ for the holidays and bundle a memory card, for instance, that might be a good deal for some.

Sony, I see no way of getting any of its consoles bellow $400 for these holidays, and that's optimistic. I really don't think they'll do better than a 80GiB model at $500 in time for Christmas. That's a hard sell for the non core audiences.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.
