@wiigirl
The problem with his comment is that in the last few days Shane has shown remarkably little business sense, and he's a VP of the gaming division. First he fans the flames of price cut speculation just as MS is going into the most important holiday season ever. Price cut speculation can lead to depressed sales as people planning to buy a system wait for the price to drop. Not a smart move by any stretch.

Now he shows next to no idea that the handheld gaming market is hugely profitable. Nintendo lived off of it for a decade after all. Fighting for two markets can be costly but it can also be twice as profitable. Lastly, Should MS decide to jump into handhelds this will be a comment VP's like Shane will be grilled with by CNBC anchors in the future.

That's not to say MS should jump into handhelds (I don't think they should) but a VP should know better than to make an idiotic comment like that. Just say it's not in MS' interests a this time or we have no plans to. Admittedly that comment wasn't as bad as the price cut one since it doesn't have any effect on actual business, it just wasn't a very smart one and VP's should be smarter than that.
