As such, another part of me thinks more along the lines of Sin & Punishment as a game that's more limited by the hardware and could really slap with more power and modern controls. |
For me I'd probably say Banjo Kazooie because I feel the exact opposite of you haha. It was one of the best games on the system back in the day, but that game has aged TERRIBLY.
Playing N64 games on NSO stuff like Mario 64 and FzeroX have aged super well and are every bit as good now as they were when they launched, Majora's Mask has aged decently, GoldenEye is still great other than getting used to what feels like insane controls now haha.
But Banjo was an absolute pain to play on NSO. It just felt so slow and bad to control and play, it was honestly hard to believe it was so good back in the day and played like that. Really goes to show as good as Rare was as a challenger to Nintendo's best on the N64, Nintendo's games have stood up much better as games that still play great today compared to Rare's great N64 games. Really night and day to how perfectly Mario 64 has aged. Would love to see Banjo made into something that plays well today.
My other idea would be Body Harvest which was a cool game but really sparse environments given the N64's limitations, could be very cool as a modern game.
