A home console variant of Switch 2 with a decent controller would at best save like $50-$100. It's not going to cost $300 lol. More like $500+ by the time it's a thing. If it had the potential Chicho thinks it has, Nintendo would have made one at launch. I think it's a mistake that they're not offering one, but it ain't touching Switch 1's totals. That borders on wishful thinking. |
1) A controller is alot cheaper and simpler to design than Joycons.
2) No battery, No speakers, No screen, No dock,... simple 1 piece of plastic casing design.
I bet you, you save ALOT more doing a home console, than doing a switch lite.
I expect the pieces you cut out, to make up like half of the switch total costs in terms of BoM.
So that would be more than $50-100.
You are underestimating how much, the hybrid design is costing.
Right now, a stock Switch 2, is 499$ in the US.
I bet you a small compact simple home console version of a Switch 2, could be sold for 250$.
If nintendo wanted to make one.
