Emulation in itself isn't a bad thing, but in practise I expect a lot of folks will want to use this for piracy.

I can't help but to think that Sony killing physical media, and stopping porting their games to Steam contributed to that.

This thing is evolving really fast in the past days/weeks.

Yeah I don't doubt that the decision to kill physical games turbocharged efforts to jailbreak and emulate the system.
