What was the first console you bought with your own money, and why did you choose it?

My first was the Game Boy Color. Peak Pokemon mania, mowed neighbors yards throughout the summer of 2000 to get it. Just in time for the launch of Gold and Silver. Although I originally got it for Blue and Red lol.

My first home console I bought was the Halo 3 edition 360. Had to be ready for the launch of Halo 3!
