| Helloplite said: This is aggressive but it makes sense. Nintendo will be forced to stop selling Switch 1 from 1st February 2027. I thought that they would simply transfer stock to other regions, but it highly likely this is not economically feasible since EU products have unique EU packaging. They would have had to repackage it to sell it elsewhere, and possibly also have to reflash the operating system if it is in any way modified for EU markets. So, what they seem to have chosen is to price it aggressively to get rid of all their stock, rather than simply wait and decide later how to get 'rid' of it. |
It's February 18th that the EU regulation goes into effect. Like @trunkswd mentions below, the gap will now likely have shrunk so much by the end of this year that Nintendo will be able to ship even more units to retailers than before. Retailers can still continue to sell the stock they already have after the February 18th deadline.

This deal should move a decent number of units. The gap between shipped and sold in Europe at the end of the year is likely going to be tiny with sales quickly dropping in 2027 as Nintendo will no longer able to ship new units starting in February 2027. I hope Nintendo is able to ship a decent amount of Switch consoles as I have a feeling this is going to be rather popular at such a low price. |

But we all wish what you pointed out, supplying stores with a great amount of units before the farewell. I hope they will increase their fiscal year target in the upcoming report, that would be extraordinary. |
I doubt Nintendo will change its fiscal target at this point and instead just report that it exceeded its forecast. I do fully expect them to beat 2m.
