I am around three quarters of the way through, and while it is a terrific game, the level of difficulty is starting to really strain what I can manage to keep up with, what with my shitty reflexes and poor hand-eye coordination. I've managed to push through so far, but the most recent boss fight had me very close to stuck, and if it's only going to ramp up from here, part of me wonders whether I'd be better off retiring while I still enjoy it instead of pushing on to the point where I just get frustrated and pissed off. Plus, the ADHD part of my brain is pushing me to jump to something new as I have Sprawl Zero waiting in the wings, which I really wanna play. Decisions, decisions. |
The main issue I take with the difficulty spike is that part of it is significantly due to the silly decision of the player character being stuck in stagger animation until the player manually removes the stagger, for those yet to play the game this isn't when your stamina runs out this is just when you block or get hit later on in the game the character just remains in a slumped state and takes a few seconds to recover out of it when you press something it's just something added purely to reduce the fluidity of the player as it allows the bosses later on breathing space.
A nitpick I personally have are these damn cinematic power up moments bosses have in the middle of a fight, anyone who has played a ND game will know them where the game does like a mini cutscene during a fight before continuing the bosses later have them when they first power up in a fight and to clarify not when you go into the next phase of a fight just when they power up, it completely stops you dead in your tracks and resets the fights pace.
