I think they want to take Zelda to places where the series have yet to be.
I vastly prefer the OOT style (I would call it the aLttP-style) over BotW. But even so, I want them to change what they can in order to keep Zelda feeling fresh without losing its distinct Zelda-feel. And I just have to accept the the series might not be for me anymore.
