Cutscenes. People complain about "movie games", but cutscenes don't make the game any less of a game, it's just a game with an added bonus. And you can skip them, if you're really not interest in what is happening in the story and with the characters. For me, a good story that is properly presented is essential. Without it, a game is just pressing buttons to make shit happen for no particular reason, and that's not enough to hold my interest.
