Part prices will be down, the platforms will be practically maxed, and at most you'll need to upgrade your GPU to get through the generation about halfway through it. Also Dell really sucks. It wasn't my choice to blow money on that thing, it was part of tuition at the Guildhall. For what it's worth though, it was a laptop that did an amazing job at having iTunes, Photoshop, Max, Office, and whatever editor I was working all at once while running two monitors at crazy high resolution.
Several people kind of melted their graphics card and other pieces of their machine while doing stuff like that but luckily the only problem I had with mine was the shitty power adapter cord that had exposed wires (which of course got replaced).
