I also remember people declaring the Switch "dead" because it was only selling around 20k a week.  What does that say about the Switch 2 when it is selling like this and it is supposed to be in its prime?  Did the Switch 2 already peak or will it recover next year?  It did have some amazing sales right before the price increase, but sales since have been pathetic.

I think it depends of the Japanese economy.

If inflation keeps going up and value of the Yen down while the debt repayments continue to rise, Japan's economy is in for a rough couple of years to recover from that, and this will inevitable have a negative effect on console sales.

If they can stabilize the Yen and the inflation, then the Japanese economy should rise up again, and with it, console sales.

But which one of the two it's gonna be, I don't know. Though so far it looks like we're on the path for number 1...

I don't think it's only Japan that has a problematic economy, but yes I do realize they are devaluing their currency a lot to deal with their economic issues.

Overall, I think Japan is telling us a situation that is common worldwide.  Console prices are going up and the economy looks like it won't be so good in the near future.  Add in the push toward all digital games, and the console business doesn't look like it's going to do too well in the next few years.
