It depends on the game.
Demanding games requiring high precision, especially multiplayer titles:
Single-player. Performance targeting 60 FPS (40 FPS is acceptable for 120–144 Hz displays). Anything higher is unnecessary.
Multiplayer. Performance targeting 120 FPS.
Cinematic and low-difficulty games:
100% focused on visuals, provided it hits 30 FPS or 40 FPS ( for 120–144 Hz displays). Edit.: Also... With all due respect... Don't band Spider-Man 2 and God of War: Ragnarok with Yoshi & The Mysterious Book and Splatoon Raiders. Spider-Man 2 looks amazing on PS5 pro, truly next gen stuff! God of War is not jaw dropping, but it's still a remarkable visual experience, the other two... Their visuals would be acceptable by 2013 standards; they are very simplistic games, comparable, at best, to early PS4/Xbone titles, maybe even PS3/Xbox 360 games... |
C'mon, let's not get hyperbolic, Splatoon Raiders may be technically conservative but it does not look like a PS3/360 game. Games on those systems do not hold up anywhere near as well as people seem to think, low res textures, jaggies, screen tearing, and plastic/clay-like materials were the norm, and this is coming from someone who loves that gen. |
I agree with Splatoon Raiders, it's indeed PS4/Xbone tier. Can't say the same about Yoshi, this one is very PS360.
