Nintendo said 16 million was the current shipping goal for the new fiscal year back around April while Sony said the were expecting to match the last fiscal (which was 15.9 so we just say 16 million). Since then Nintendo has expressed interest in selling more, but they can commit to more due to the current memory pricing situation. Sony said the expect to sell whatever they ship and seem to confirm that they have enough stock for the current year. We assume the situation is similar for Nintendo. This implies they could sell more if they could make more. So all else remaining equal it is literally a dead heat.
