What's the greatest 2D game ever made in your view, and why?

Y’know, I’ve heard so much praise thrown around about this game. I had a blast playing DKCReturns & Tropical Freeze, but only enjoyed DKCountry (OG). Is DKC2 really that much better? May have to give it a spin one day if so. 

The core gameplay is quite similar to DKC1, but 2 has better level design, more variety, and the duo feels more nimble and agile due to Dixie being more so compared to Donkey Kong in DKC1.

To me at least it's one of those sequels that improves over the first in almost every way. It's still cut from the same cloth though.
