If Switch 1 doesn't outsell PS2, will any other future console in the foreseeable future or in our lifetime do it?

It’s basically just the western world that can easily afford buying a console so far. Some 1 billion people, 1/8 of the world population. If consoles can stick around until better living standards become the norm across the world, then I think there is a decent chance one of them can beat it, most likely a Nintendo console.

Granted, there will still be a strong bias for mobile and PC in those regions as that’s where they have played so far. But Nintendo games seem to have widespread appeal across the whole world.
