"Losing a million customers with nothing to show for it would be a bigger deal." ^This right here^ It's not just about losing a meaningful number of customers, it's about losing them now, long before these new policies actually take shape. This will drive SNY to the question of, 'how much worse is it really going to get once this is physically... put into practice and everyone has to deal with it and the consequences?' How SNY will react exactly we can't know, but doing nothing certainly means they won't take the verbal backlash seriously enough and won't think it through. Maybe SNY backtracks to some degree, maybe they don't, but if they don't, they're taking a very very big risk and very well may pay for it. In which case, it won't only be the Corporation that pays for it, it'll also be "for the players" as well... |
They are also losing a million of their more hardcore fans. The guys who will go out of their way to buy and collect Playstation games and systems. The guys other people go to for advice on what gaming system to buy. The guys who will talk a lot about Playstation online and help create hype. This will have a ripple effect for the brand.
