It's because the region locked PS5 in Japan is digital only and like half the price of the multi-language disc model. Many if not most of its buyers are probably buying the add-on with it.

I wasn’t aware of any other disc vs digital PS5 numbers but apparently it was 82% disc versions sold in the US as of 2024.
