Any other source than the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) estimates the average lifespan of (pressed) DVDs & Blu-rays around 50 years, even 80+ years if they are stored under optimal conditions. Good enough for me.

This "forschungsdaten.info" site is hosted by the German university Konstanz (and supported by other German universities) and is funded by a German state ministry.

Of course there are always some bad apples (f. e. Warner Bros. used bad glue for their HD-DVDs in the 2000s) which stop working much sooner, but these are the exceptions, not the rule.
