Nah, It's not nearly that bad. It just isn't the life changing experience people were expecting with how long the game was delayed. They couldn't figure out how to put the game on Switch 1 until very late in its life, which is why it changed hands between studios mid development.

I remember seeing the trailer and thinking "This looks like a normal Metroid Prime game". Nothing wrong with that per se, but people expected a lot more with how long the game was in development.
