As I've said before the water thing is basically a made up issue though yes there are indeed concerns but in terms of environmental harm specifically data centres are negligible compared to the actual major bad actors there. The actual major concerns surrounding AI is stuff like the potential for authoritarian regimes using it to retain power, its impact in warfare, how important it is that the first AGI and particularly the first ASI ends up being aligned right etc. Experts in the field of AI who are deeply concerned about it aren't talking about minor stuff like the environmental impact of data centres, they're talking about things like that.

I know about the suppression via data centres, which is why I was happy to hear Iran was bombing them.

There's still the matters of lay offs, noise pollution and loss of farmland because of AI.

While they suck in the short term in the long term lay offs are for the best since the goal is for all required labour for society to function to eventually be automated resulting in no one having to work to get by any more since robots will be taking care of everything. In general stuff like any noise pollution is incredibly minor compared to the actual major concerns surrounding AI so it would be for the best to focus more on the stuff that's really important.
